About this highway
Highway 17 is the South Fraser Perimeter Road, a four-lane route along the south bank of the Fraser from Deltaport and the Tsawwassen terminal approach east past Ladner and Tilbury to the Surrey industrial area and Highway 1. Locals say the Perimeter Road or Highway 17; the signs say both, and the older Highway 17A carries the Ladner and Tsawwassen leg. It was built for containers rather than commuters, so its traffic is trucks and its problems are crashes rather than volume, and it is the quietest of the routes on this list most of the day.
