About this crossing
The Alex Fraser carries Highway 91 over the Fraser between North Delta and Annacis Island, on to Richmond and New Westminster: seven lanes, with the centre lane switched to the rush direction behind a movable barrier. Locals say the Alex or the Alex Fraser; the signs say Highway 91. Mornings it queues northbound from the Nordel and 72nd approaches, afternoons southbound from the Highway 91A and Queensborough side and it is the crossing that takes the overflow when the Massey Tunnel or the Port Mann is stopped, so it is rarely quiet when either of those is not. The alternates are the Massey to the west via Highway 99 and the Riverview or the Port Mann to the east.
Questions
- How current is the Alex Fraser report?
- Vancouver604 publishes a new cycle every fifteen minutes. The time at the top of the page is when the cycle you are reading was published, and the page, the JSON feed and the player all show the same cycle.
- What does it mean when the Alex Fraser is not in the report?
- That the station had nothing to say about it. Vancouver604 reports what drivers and the public road feeds are seeing; a crossing that is moving is not mentioned, so a quiet page usually means a clear bridge.
- Which zones cover the Alex Fraser?
- Richmond / Delta and Burnaby / New Westminster. The crossing's report is drawn from every zone in the cycle, so it is found whichever side the station described it from.
- Can I listen instead of reading?
- Yes. Press play on this page or in the free iOS app, which also works in CarPlay so your hands stay on the wheel.
- Is Vancouver604 an emergency service?
- No. Vancouver604 is a community information service. In an emergency call 911. Never use your phone while driving.
